Under the leadership of Mayor McCorristin, the “team” approach to good government has worked, and worked very well!  Team Avalon 2025, comprised of Council President Mari Coskey, Councilman Jamie McDermott, and Councilman Greg “Chet” Johnson, will continue good, stable leadership.  Here are some accomplishments that this “team” approach has achieved in our community:

• The lowest municipal tax rate of any developed community in New Jersey

• Exemplary AAA bond rating from Standard and Poor’s

• Elimination of all long-term, general obligation debt

• Perennial five-star Avalon Free Public Library

• Four-time accredited Avalon Police Department, twice with perfect scores

• One of 13 communities in the United States with a Class 3 flood rating, 35% discount on flood insurance

• Continual investment in critical infrastructure (Surfside Park, streets, roads, bulkheads)

• Success program to secure federal, state, and county grants for tax relief

• Nationally recognized beach and dune maintenance and stabilization program

• Continual expansion of waterfront access, most recently with ADA-compliant improvements at our revitalized Bay Park Marina
