TEAM AVALON 2025 FILES, THREE SEEK RE-ELECTION TO BOROUGH COUNCIL

(Avalon, NJ)—Team Avalon 2025, consisting of incumbent Borough Council members Maura Coskey, Jamie McDermott, and Greg “Chet” Johnson, filed their nominating petitions with the Avalon Municipal Clerk’s office yesterday. The three councilmembers are seeking four-year terms for Borough Council during the May 13th, 2025, non-partisan municipal election in Avalon.

“Mari, Jamie, and Chet have proven track records and years of municipal government experience to represent and advance the interests of citizens in our community”, said Avalon Mayor John McCorristin. “Avalon achieves lofty goals through the team approach to good municipal government. I endorse and support these community leaders in their re-election and ask Avalon voters to do the same on election day.”

Councilwoman Coskey has served one term on Borough Council and currently serves as Council President. She is employed by the Avalon and Stone Harbor school districts as a speech-language pathologist. Coskey earned a master’s degree in communication disorders from LaSalle University and volunteers on the Avalon Recreation Advisory Committee.

He is an active member of the Avalon Lions Club and the Avalon Yacht Club.

Johnson’s family has spent five generations in Avalon, and he and his wife, Sandy, have lived in the community for more than four decades. Johnson has worked for over 40 years for HIBU/HIG and has expertise in digital marketing, budget and finance, and motivational training. Johnson serves on the Avalon Recreational Advisory Committee and is the past chairman of the Avalon Planning and Zoning Board.
